Enjoy Styria regionally

Experience the “Kulinarium Steiermark“

Fine-dining restaurants, inns and traditional mountain huts – all of them treat their guests to a vast selection of Styrian delicacies.

Over 200 Kulinarium Steiermark partners cook with regional ingredients and create delicious dishes. With their culinary skills, they bring the numerous facets of Styria onto a plate in terms of taste. All this is paired with the tradition-conscious hospitality of the Styrians. This is how visitors experience what the true attitude to life in the Green Heart of Austria tastes like.

Styrian cuisine: regional and seasonal

The true taste of Styria is what the “Kulinarium Steiermark” restaurants are after. With plenty of passion and creativity, they create regional and seasonal dishes – whether it’s up at a mountain hut without electricity or at a three-star restaurant.

The “Kulinarium Steiermark” businesses even have their own quality seal, the “green heart”. This quality seal is based on ten special “enjoyment rules”. Among others, they include use of local ingredients with a verifiable origin as well as cooking in line with the seasons.

What’s more, “Kulinarium Steiermark“ sees participating chefs as ambassadors of good taste, treating their guests to exquisite moments of indulgence by way of top-class regional dishes.

Take a pinch of passion and add to it a bit of deliciousness and Styrian hospitality and what you get is a tasteful stay in Styria!

Kulinarium Steiermark: a variety of flavours between alpine pastures and vineyards

Steiermark is known as Austria's delicatessen region - with products such as beetle beans, sheep's noses and Murbodner beef, which are grown between the Ennstal mountain pastures and the vineyards of southern Styria. This diversity characterises a cuisine that ranges from hearty alpine snacks to gourmet menus.

Kulinarium Steiermark consultant Willi Haider has selected 209 gourmet establishments that offer the highest quality and genuine regionality. Whether for a short culinary holiday, a gourmet trip through Styria or a visit to one of the many regional restaurants: Anyone who loves genuine, seasonal food characterised by the region is guaranteed to find what they are looking for in Styria. Because here, flavour is deeply rooted in the region.

All Kulinarium Steiermark huts at a glance

Styria attracts visitors with around 1,660 Alpine pastures and the Almenland Nature Park, one of the largest Alpine pasture areas in Europe. At the huts, you can enjoy regional specialties such as homemade cheese, fresh alpine butter, hearty snacks and warm delicacies from cheese dumplings to venison ragout. There is also clear mountain air, sweeping views and real moments of enjoyment while hiking or skiing.

Delicious products straight from Styria’s nature

Perfect conditions and highly motivated agricultural businesses make Styria’s fields particularly prosperous. Apples, pumpkins and grapes are well-known regional products that local restaurants use to create their exquisite dishes.

What’s more, many guests take home pumpkin seed oil, wine or other local produce as culinary souvenirs from their holiday in Styria.
