Organ concert with Heinrich Wimmer from Burghausen
Biography:
Heinrich Wimmer was born in 1964 in Altötting and has been an organist in his hometown since the age of 14. He studied Catholic Church Music in Regensburg and then organ at the Munich University of Music, which he completed in 1989 with the concert diploma and in 1991 with the postgraduate diploma. In 1985, he became organist at the parish church of St. Jacob in Burghausen, founded an organ concert series, and initiated the construction of a new organ. Since 2014, he has also been active at the Abbey Church of Raitenhaslach and the Pilgrimage Church of Marienberg. In 2024, he was appointed to the Organ Commission of the Diocese of Linz. His concert tours have taken him across Europe, Israel, China, South Korea, Russia, and the Baltic, where he interpreted works by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Reger, as well as South German Baroque music and French classics. He has performed over 150 compositions by contemporary composers at international festivals and recorded 45 CDs, including organ works by Oskar Sigmund and Walther R. Schuster.
