Explore the diversity of local culture with us: from the Fire Brigade Museum to the Local Heritage Museum to the unique Austrian Brass Music Museum. Experience history, tradition, and music up close – compact, exciting, and entertaining. Until September 7, 2025, a guided museum tour through all three museums takes place every Tuesday, starting at 1:00 PM.

The Austrian Brass Music Museum:
The permanent exhibition of the museum presents, in addition to wood, brass, and percussion instruments, costumes and uniforms, many other objects such as various drum carts, conductor's batons, and showcases the development of music note printing with original scores and music sheets. An audio-visual presentation offers an overview of the history "From classical harmony music to contemporary brass music." The current special exhibition is dedicated to the theme "The Magic of Military Music."

Oberwölz Local Museum:
How it all began - In the medieval Schötteltor facility of the cultural house, you will find the lovingly designed local museum of Oberwölz covering an area of approximately 250m². The historical journey spans from finds from the urnfield and Hallstatt periods (more than 3300 years old), through the history of Rothenfels Castle, once owned by the diocese of Freising, to ancient crafts and forgotten traditions. You will experience the everyday life of our ancestors up close in a fully equipped shoemaker's workshop, the weaving shop, or the smoke kitchen in the town tower.

Fire Brigade Museum:
The museum documents the unique, continuous history of the volunteer fire brigade in Oberwölz, 150 years of fire brigade history in Oberwölz. Experience the history from the night watchman, the first firefighter who watched over the town and rang the rag bell, to special items such as a movable free-standing ladder, whose use was only permitted for the "upper climber and climber," and various pumps, including the founding pump from the year 1851. All exhibition pieces are owned by the volunteer fire brigade of Oberwölz and are functional.
