In the center of Kindberg, "ordinary" maypoles and those with simple guild signs were already set up before the 1950s.

But then the hotelier and tourism chairman Franz Gruber implemented the concept of the Kindberg guild tree. He had seen models during a

stay in Bavaria. The tree was adorned with guild signs, a pair in traditional costumes, and a wedding procession, all created by the Kindberg

artist Hubert Pilch. And the new landmark was left standing all year round. Soon the artist Fritz Putz from Bruck/Mur

was commissioned to create figurative representations. They alternated between guild, traditional, and fairy tale figures, along with coats of arms, hearts, and

lanterns. A sophisticated set of figures was once designed by the artist Anton Babion from Schliersee (Bavaria). Alongside several other Kindberg artists,

Max Kroisleitner and later Edith Schermer, Traude Geyeregger-Rothwangl, and Ria Urferer painted the decoration anew time and again.

Today, Kindberg is famous for its "guild tree." It serves as both an honorary symbol and a bringer of good luck.
