Stadtgemeinde Kindberg

The building on the street has existed in its current form since the early 18th century. The market office was located on the first floor, the detention facilities were on the ground floor, and there were apartments for the staff on both levels. In the 18th century, school lessons were also held in the town hall until the first school building was occupied at the church square in 1785. Subsequently, around 1790, the town hall also had to serve as a barracks. The ground-level wing facing the courtyard was expanded so that the newly established savings bank of Kindberg could move in on the enlarged first floor in 1873; it remained there until the completion of the current savings bank building in 1938. 

The space between the town hall and the Gasthaus zur Goldenen Krone (Main Street 38) served as a lunch stop for the imperial court during travels. The fire department, founded in 1869, used it as a gymnasium; in 1879, it received a climbing tower in the town hall courtyard. In 1887, a storage building was added to the town hall, which the fire department used until 1971. 
 
The current facade design of the town hall was implemented in 1927 according to a design by the architect Franz Schlacher, who originated from Kindberg, and includes the colonnaded balcony above the gate. 

In 2006/07, the town hall received an extension at the back, and the demolition of the former storage building created a town hall square once again.
