"Die Kinder der Schweigenden“ - Filmvorführung und Filmgespräch

What does remembrance mean when those who can tell of the unimaginable horror of the Nazi concentration and extermination camps will soon no longer be around? When those who have experienced and survived dehumanization can no longer bear witness to what happened?

These questions are addressed in Fred Turnheim's film "The Children of the Silent," which will be shown on September 22, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Bruck City Museum. In the film, survivors, as well as their children and grandchildren, speak about the unfathomable and how it continues to resonate (even today) – also affecting the descendants. Scholars contextualize the narratives.
The filmmaker's grandparents, Emanuel and Cäcilie Weiss, were murdered in Auschwitz on November 19, 1943. In memory of their murdered parents, the filmmaker's aunt modeled their heads.
They lead as the Silencers, who never remain silent, through the film.
